Mare
BASICS
Birthname : Marra, shortened to Mare
Age : 17
Gender : female
Occupation : candidate
PERSONALITY
Mare is made of temper and hair. On the surface, she's a bold, mercurial, and outgoing girl that flirts with anyone and anything that moves-and if it doesn't move, she'll flirt until it does. She has a rather dry sense of humor, and the sort of passion and love for life that can only be admired.
This is, in fact, something of a coping mechanism for a lack of close relationships or any sense of self worth. She's believed for so long that her only use is looking pretty, and occasionally standing on the sands-and eventually becoming a dragonrider, of course-that the mask that covers her depression has become the reality. Every time an unpleasant emotion tries to sneak through, it's squashed mercilessly until she'd forgotten how to deal with them at all.
Likes :
Dislikes :
Phobias : Deep water. Mare doesn't mind swimming in shallows-in fact she rather likes it-but anything that's too deep for her to reach to bottom of sits somewhere between unnerving and terrifying.
APPEARANCE
Height : 5' 9"
Weight : 173 lbs.
Haircolor : brown-black
Eyecolor : green
Face Claim : Jeannie Ortega
HISTORY
An unlucky bronzerider sated his mating flight drive with a pretty young greenrider, and shortly thereafter Marra was born. She was a happy, bubbly child that rarely saw her parents-in fact, wasn't entirely sure who her sire was for several years. It didn't matter, though, as she loved hearing stories about the riders.
She was the daughter of riders, and should, people said, at the very least Impress a green. She would go out of her way to prove to the world that she was the perfect Candidate-and most of the time succeeded in doing her chores quickly and well before dashing off to find some sort of excitement in the weyr.
Of course, every time she didn't Impress left her a little more broken-a little more lost.
Both of her parents were lost to illness, and now, now Mare is more than convinced she's just too old to Impress. She'll continue to stand in the sands until someone kicks her out, but her hope-her pole star-is decidedly pale these days.
